Day 1 of the Adventure begins here...
Well, not technically. At 4 AM this morning we were en route to the Las Vegas airport. Happily curbside check-in expedited our bags and us through to security for a quick trip to Los Angeles. Now, I'm sitting in the "ReLax" lounge. Totally worth the ten dollar entrance free for a quiet and refined, ultra modern (like out of a Janet Jackson video circa 1998) loungey space with free wireless, snacks, and lots of magazines. It's ideal for me to sit and watch gigantic planes moving along the taxi-way as I write the first blog entry for this sojourn. At this point the main thoughts passing through my mind consist of a jumble of things to not take for granted here (like drinking tap water and ordering beverages with ice) to musings about how hot it will be in Vietnam and where might I be able to locate some food late at night after we land. We're slated to come in around 10:40 pm on the 31st, so New Year's eve in Ho Chi Minh it is. Better get those compression socks on; 13 hours in the air, here we come.
I think that's the exact hat that Bob Dylan is wearing in The Last Waltz - I mean it, like the very one. Check with Colleen on this.
